Dr. Stanley was raised in the Lehigh Valley, PA and obtained her veterinary degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 2013. She then moved to New York City, where she completed a rotating small animal internship, followed by a specialty internship in internal medicine, at BluePearl Veterinary Partners, NYC. She completed her training with a three-year residency program in internal medicine at the Animal Medical Center in New York, NY, during which time she conducted research on the relationship between anemia and vitamin B deficiencies in dogs. Dr. Stanley received board certification from the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine in 2018. Her particular areas of interest include endocrinopathies, gastrointestinal disease, renal disease, and feline medicine. During her time off, she enjoys exploring the city with her husband, running, relaxing at the beach, and spending time with her friends and three cats, Dinah, Amelia, and Louie.
The Internal Medicine Department encompasses the disciplines of endocrinology, gastroenterology, hematology, immunology, infectious disease, nephrology/urology, and respiratory disease. In addition, patients suspected of having cancer or of being hyperthyroid are first evaluated by the Internal Medicine Department. DR. Emma Stanley performs and interprets abdominal and thoracic ultrasound procedures and video endoscopy including, rhinoscopy, gastroduodenoscopy, broncoscopy, proctoscopy/colonoscopy, cystoscopy and vaginoscopy. Dr. Stanely also administers endocrine testing, such as, adrenal, thyroid, parathyroid, insulin and sex hormone evaluations. Bone marrow biopsies and aspirates, in addition to tumor biopsies are also performed.
The Internal Medicine Service performs a variety of procedures, including among them:
- Fiberoptic scoping
- Diabetic care
